Fifties from Emma Jones and Sarah Bryce saw The Blaze home and took them within touching distance of the final of the Metro Bank One Day Cup. On a used pitch, it wasn’t easy for either side, but it was The Blaze’s quality that eventually shone through as they bagged a bonus-point win that fended off the challenge from Hampshire in second place.
Grace Ballinger and Charlie Phillips bossed the powerplay, and Somerset never really recovered from the early losses of Bex Odgers and Emma Corney.
Corney was caught behind for four to a brilliant bit of reactionary keeping from Sarah Bryce, who, almost off the wrong foot, recovered and took the diving catch.
