Glamorgan return to Division One in 2026 after a strong promotion campaign, stepping back into the top tier with a squad that blends experience, emerging talent, and a clear identity.
Squad Overview
Their success in Division Two was built on disciplined batting and a reliable seam attack, and while the jump in quality is significant, there is a sense that this group is better prepared than in previous promotions. The batting unit is anchored by captain Kiran Carlson who has proven himself to be a consistent middle-order bat and they have the exciting Asa Tribe at the top of the order, at least until apparent England honours come to fruition. The key question will be whether that unit can produce the same volume of runs against stronger, more varied bowling attacks.
Glamorgan’s bowling attack is well-rounded without being overly reliant on pace alone. Timm van der Gugten remains a dependable leader of the seam unit, supported by bowlers capable of maintaining pressure rather than simply attacking in bursts. The retirement of James Harris just before the start of the season is a blow but they have enough elsewhere to not be overly-reliant on his experience.
