County Championship Somerset Team Profile

Can Somerset realise their potential and put in a title-challenge in 2026 or are they still not quite where they need to be to maintain a title-challenge? It's an important summer for the West Country side and they have an abundance of talent in their side but can they match the likes of Notts and Surrey and stay in contention?

The consistency that Somerset possess will allow them to reach their full potential soon but is 2026 a year too early with a more youthful side growing into the red-ball format or can they build on a third place finish last season and go further?

Squad Overview

There has been a thinning of the Somerset squad this off-season with a number of fringe players moving onto other counties as they seek a more regular gig in the red-ball format and there hasn't been wholesale new signings, so the core of the Championship side will remain the same.

Big season's for Tom Banton and either one of the Rew Brother's could see them get some Test match credentials with England, whilst the reliability of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Lammonby will give their batting the experience it needs.
