After Wednesday’s results, The Blaze’s involvement in the Vitality Blast Finals Day was starting to look dicey. Especially as Somerset, the only side that could have denied them a top four spot, were their opponents at Trent Bridge.
It was a game that would work effectively as a quarter-final, which Charli Knott admitted after the game: “We spoke about it being a quarter-final, and the girls, to everyone’s credit, showed up with great intent.”
A seven-wicket win followed, with Knott again the standout player, scoring an unbeaten 63 not out from 43 balls.
It was the bat of Knott that rescued The Blaze against Yorkshire at Headingley. At 41 for five, The Blaze were looking at a big defeat in their last group game. Knott again was a different class and, with the support of Kirstie Gordon, ensured the game was won, despite the loss of late wickets.
