There are quarter-finals, and then there are quarter-finals that feel like they belong on the biggest stage.

When Notts Outlaws welcome Surrey to Trent Bridge on Wednesday evening, there will be no shortage of quality on show. Two of the biggest counties in English cricket. Two squads packed with international talent. Two clubs that expect to be challenging for trophies every season.

Only one of them, though, will be heading to Edgbaston. For Nottinghamshire supporters, there is also a welcome sense of nostalgia surrounding the fixture. Six years ago these two counties met in the 2020 Vitality Blast Final, with the Outlaws emerging victorious to lift the trophy for the second time.
