It should have been one of those games where The Blaze’s England internationals parachute in, clock in with runs, and everyone goes home satisfied that a good day’s cricket has been had by all.
That wasn’t the case today. When Amy Jones chipped the second ball of the seventh over to Cordelia Griffith at a shortish midwicket, the trio of Tammy Beaumont (4), Nat Sciver-Brunt, out lbw first ball to former The Blaze player Sophie Munro, and Jones were all gone with the score on 22 for four.
The Blaze were in big trouble despite only needing to chase 214 to win the game against an Essex side yet to win this season.
