If Nottinghamshire wanted to prove that last week's defeat to Somerset was merely a bump in the road, they could hardly have produced a more emphatic response.
Just seven days after suffering their first County Championship defeat since 2024, Peter Moores' side travelled to Chelmsford and completely dismantled Division One leaders Essex, winning by an innings and 52 runs inside three days.
From Jack Haynes' unbeaten century to Liam Patterson-White's career-best match figures, this was a performance that reminded the rest of the division exactly why Nottinghamshire entered the season as defending champions.
