Nottinghamshire's Ben Duckett has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to focus on regaining his optimum form ahead of the English Test Summer.

The left-hand opening bat was due to play in franchise cricket's marquee tournament, due to start at the end of this month for the Delhi Capitals, after being picked up for Rs 2 Crore (Approx £159K) but has opted to play in the early rounds of the County Championship after a busy and frustrating winter.

Duckett didn't have the best of winter Ashes series, where both he and his fellow opening partner, Zak Crawley came under scrutiny for their performances, though with credit in the bank, Duckett feels his time would be better spent in the four-day game in conditions that will help him regain the form that made him one of the most devastating players in the Test match arena.

Duckett told Nottinghamshire Cricket "I have given this a lot of thought, and it has not been an easy choice. [I want to] play some four-day cricket for Notts, and try to find that form I had last summer.
