For Peter Moores, the road back to acclaim has been anything but straightforward. Once regarded as one of England’s most promising coaching talents, his reputation faltered during turbulent spells as England head coach.
Those years were marked by inconsistent results and high-profile tensions — most notably with Kevin Pietersen — and public scrutiny cast doubt on his leadership and tactical approach. Yet Moores’s career has not been defined by those struggles. Instead, he has rebuilt his reputation quietly but decisively at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
Moores first made his name in county cricket, guiding Sussex to the County Championship in 2003 and later ending Lancashire’s 77-year title drought in 2011. When he arrived at Nottinghamshire in 2016, expectations were modest.
Away from the intense glare of international cricket, he focused on rebuilding the club patiently, prioritising professionalism, clarity of roles and long-term development. The results of that approach became clear in 2025 when Nottinghamshire won the County Championship — their first title in 15 years.
