Trent Rockets have completed their men’s squad for the upcoming season of The Hundred following a busy player auction that reshaped the competition’s rosters, adding a mixture of power and guile to assemble one of the strongest squads on paper.

With a mixture of retained stars, overseas firepower and experienced domestic players, the Nottingham-based side will aim to challenge for the title they previously won in 2022.

Strong Core Pre-Signed

The Rockets entered the auction with a strong foundation already in place. England internationals Ben Duckett and Tom Banton were direct signed to anchor the top order, while explosive Australian-based finisher Tim David provides power in the middle overs.

New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner was also secured before the auction, bringing valuable spin options and calm leadership experience from international cricket. These four players form the backbone of the Rockets’ squad and give the side proven quality with both bat and ball.

Major auction additions

The Rockets were active during the auction and strengthened several key areas of their squad. One of the headline signings was New Zealand opener Finn Allen, whose aggressive batting style makes him one of the most dangerous powerplay hitters in world cricket.

Experienced England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings also joined the squad, adding leadership and flexibility to the middle order. Billings captained the Oval Invincibles to success earlier in the competition and brings valuable Hundred experience.

The Rockets further boosted their seam attack with the additions of England internationals Craig Overton and David Payne, alongside New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry. This trio provides pace, swing and death-overs expertise.

Spinner Danny Briggs adds further experience to the bowling unit, while all-rounder Lewis Gregory returns to the Rockets setup, strengthening the seam-bowling depth and lower-order batting options.

Squad depth and young talent

The remainder of the squad includes several domestic players who add depth and flexibility. Batters Aneurin Donald and Louis Kimber offer aggressive batting options, while all-rounder Dan Mousley provides versatility with both bat and ball.

Young bowlers such as Brad Currie and Ben Mayes round out the squad and could play important roles as the tournament progresses.

Balanced squad targeting another title

Overall, the Rockets appear to have assembled a balanced squad capable of competing strongly in the fast-paced 100-ball format. The likely batting lineup combines the attacking instincts of Allen, Banton and Duckett with the finishing power of David and Billings.

Meanwhile, the bowling attack boasts a blend of pace and spin through Henry, Overton, Payne and Santner, supported by Briggs and Gregory.
